Indomitable Lions of Cameroon midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has appealed to lovers of the team to exercise patience with current the gaffer António Conceição Da Silva Oliveira.
The 58-year-old Portuguese tactician replaced Clarence Seedorf at the helm of the five-time African champions last September, with the mandate to guide the famous national selection for the next two years.
Three games into Conceição’s mandate, the Lions look solid. The team is unbeaten, and serenity appears to be the watchword in the camp.
Speaking about the ex-Cluj boss recently, Zambo made some interesting revelations filled with praises for the coach’s management and communication skills.
“Speaking to him [Conceição ] there is only good” The Fulham midfielder on loan at Villarreal told Canal+
Zambo Anguissa is definitely enjoying his time under the gaffer. He has featured in all three games in the Conceicao-era. That alone must have helped the midfielder to forget his frustration in the Clarence Seedorf’s last days on the job especially against Nigeria during the 2019 AFCON 16 final.
The Ex Cotonsport of Garoua midfielder went further;
“From the beginning, he focuses on what the players like. He wants us to be at ease; the players-coach relationship and dialogue are ideal. He is very close to his players. He gives us every detail. For us it is very important, and we want to give back our all for him. There is zero frustration, he is clear with everyone. You can ask anyone presently in the team. We are satisfied, I will say it like that. I think we should give him time and patience.” Zambo told Canal+.
Zambo’s glowing reports about Conceição sends across a message about the atmosphere in the Lions Den these days
Kick442.com understands that Conceição played a great role through his fine communication skills to secure the return of Nicolas Nkoulou to the Lions Den, after a three-year self imposed exile.
This portal also understands that Jean-Pierre Nsame [who has been out of the team since June 2019] has equally agreed to honor the next call to the National team following a good conversation with coach Conceição.
Cameroon football authorities are noted for ‘hiring and firing’ of coaches over the years. Conceição is the country’s ninth coach in the last decade but these rare comments from one of the leaders in present Cameroon team provides the much needed assurance.
The qualifiers for the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon have been suspended since March this year due to the deadly CoronaVirus pandemic. This has led to the inactivity of coach Conceição team since November 2019.
So far, the gaffer has drawn two and registered a win in the three games as head coach. Two goalless draws against Tunisia and Cape Verde late last year were followed by a one-nil win against Rwanda in Kigali.
The coach is expected to be the man at the helm when Cameroon hosts the AFCON in 2021 in under a year should CAF not postpone the tournament.
