Cameroon will have to do without their key midfield Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa in this week’s double-header confrontation in the FIFA World cup playoffs.
The Napoli man has inforned the Rigobert Song-led staff of the Cameroon team he can’t journey to Douala as planned with the justification being an injury picked up last weekend in a 2-1 win in a Serie A game against Udinese though he played the full encounter.
A release from the Indomitable Lions communications head’s man have it that Arnaud Suitchine Djoum of Apollon Limassol has recieved a late invitation and will be reporting to camp.
32-year old Djoum missed the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament owing to injury but has enough experience to deputize for Zambo though both players well and truly vary.
The absence of Zambo, the technical leader of the Cameroon team in the past three years puts Song in a strange position with the likes of Jeando Fuchs, Olivier Ntcham, Gael Ondoua all available as new options.
Zambo Anguissa counts five goals for Cameroon scored from 41 caps for the five time African Champions from his debut against Tunisia in March 2017.
Zambo will certainly be missed in the upcoming fixture and sportsglitz.net is reporting he could be protesting the cruel termination of Cameroon’s relationship with former trainer Antonio Conceiçao who was axed last month at the benefit of Rigobert Song.
Djoum who has featured on occasions for his club this term comes to camp looking to add to his 20 caps for the Indomitable Lions.
