Cameroon international midfielders Andre Zambo-Anguissa of Villarreal and Yan Brice Eteki of Granada came up against each other on match day 29 of the Spanish LaLiga, with Zambo coming out on-top in the contest.
Eteki’s Granada were hosting Zambo-Angusissa’s Villarreal at their Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.
Granada’s coach Diego Martinez handed 22-year-old Eteki a start in the game in his 20th league appearance of the season, while on his part, Javi Calleja preferred to leave Zambo-Anguissa on the bench from kickoff.
Villarreal got their lead as early as the 11th minute through Gerard Moreno and held on to it till the end of the game.
Eteki was replaced at the 61st minute, after battling with his compatriot Zambo-Anguissa for just five minutes as the latter was brought on at the 55th.
Zambo-Anguissa took off all the pressure from the Villarreal midfield as he calmed things down as always to help them to a third consecutive 1-0 win since the resumption of the Spanish LaLiga after the Coronavirus imposed break.
The 24-year-old Cameroonian was making his 27th league appearance of the season with one goal to his name for the Yellow Submarines.
The win takes Villarreal to the 7th position on the log, with 47 points, the same with 5th placed Getafe, though the latter have played a game less.
Granada on their part, dropped to the 9th position with 42 points.
