Following the pause of Zambian Super League due to novel COVID-19 pandemic, the Zambian premier league acting manager,Brian Mulenga has stated that the league will be decided on the pitch regardless of when it will resume.
The 18 clubs championship was halted by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) on 19th March, 2020 as Zambia took measures to avoid the spread of CoronaVirus infection.
Three weeks down the line,the Zambian premier league like many other leagues around the world are faced with the responsibility to decide about the future of the different championships.
With the likely options of ending leagues abruptly staring on the faces of fans and football enthusiasts, the acting manager of the league has come out to state that the league will be concluded.
Brian Mulenga, affirmed that the league will not be ended by boardroom decisions but will be concluded on the pitch.
“It won’t be a boardroom decision. The league will be determined on the pitch and regardless of when the league returns we shall certainly have a competition.” He said.
Forest Rangers were top of the league with 46 points after 24 matches, a point ahead of NAPSA stars who are second with 45 points after playing 25 matches before the league was halted.
