The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed it has set aside financial support for clubs as they gear up to resume the 2019/2020 Premier League season behind closed doors.
Zambia is among several African nations set to restart their domestic leagues on the continent after over two months on suspension. The 18-club championship was halted in mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Kick442.com has learned that FAZ had proposed mid-July for the resumption of the 2019/2020 top flight and second-tier leagues alongside the ABSA Cup ( FA Cup). The League’s acting manager, Brian Mulenga said the future of the domestic league will be decided on the pitch regardless of when it resumes.
The Zambia FA have outrightly opted to conclude her domestic championships.
They outlined three ways to enable them to achieve this objective by playing the remaining games behind closed doors, enable all clubs to play an equal number of games, and launch a new season in March 2021.
