48-year-old Franco-Moroccan Younes Zerdouk , former deputy coach of the Comoros senior Football national team, has been appointed head coach of the Coelacanthes team.
The former Angers SCO midfielder will be assisted by Djamel Bakar former AS Monaco and Montpelier forward as deputy trainer.Meanwhile, kassim Abdallah, former Olympique Marseille’s player and AFCON 2021 participant will hold the post of Sports Director for the national team in replacement of Djamal Mohamed.
Younes Zerdouk takes over from his former boss Abdou Amir, who had spend eight years with the Coelacanthes. After recording a brilliant performance in the 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations on Cameroonian soil.And resigning a day after the competition.In 45 games in charge, Abdou managed to win on 11 occasions, drawing 16 times and losing 20 games.
Despite being handed a very difficult group which had Morocco, Gabon, and Ghana, Comoros qualified against all odds to the round of 16 stage as one of the best third-placed teams after a historic 3-2 win over Ghana.
