By storm, Yaya Toure took the world yesterday by being appointed head coach of the Ukrainian club Olympic Donetsk.
Yaya Toure 38, won the African Nations cup in 2015 but finished runners up twice with the elephants of Ivory Coast (100 caps). Yaya Toure had an excellent club football career notably at FC Barcelona and Manchester City during which he won the UEFA champions league, La Liga, and English premier Titles.
Switching to coaching for Yaya Toure didn’t take long after hanging boots. In July 2020, Toure completed his coaching training with EFL league two side Layton Orient. Chris Ramsey (QPR), Stuart Jones (Blackburn), and Geoff Lomax (PFA) have all been credited by the 4 times African best player for ensuring he went through some of Europe’s finest trainers and becomes Africa’s most high profile manager in Europe.
Olympic Donetsk who seats 7th on the Ukrainian league will on Saturday 13th September face Dynamo Kyiv with hopes that new manager Yaya Toure will improve on the club’s fortunes.
