Weeks after we reported that Brazilian topflight side Vasco Da Gama were monitoring Yaya Touré’s situation with hopes of securing the services of the Ivorian midfielder, the potential president Luiz Leven Siano has released a video of a new twist in the deal.
Mr Siano posted the video on Instagram on Thursday as he claims he has an agreement with Yaya Toure and the player confirmed the information with his own video.
“Welcome Mr Yaya Toure. Thank you for trusting Vasco de Gama. It will be Vasco!! Mr Siano said.
In response, the 2009 UEFA Champions League winner and four time African footballer of the year released his own video in which he stated his position on the deal.
“I would like to thank Leven for including me in this project…. I can’t wait to see all the Vasco fans very soon. It will be Vasco” Toure concluded.
The ex-Olympiakos box-to-box midfielder at 37, has spent the last two years in Greece and China.
Toure has had a very successful career, winning league titles in Greece, Spain and England, including the prestigious UEFA Champions League and the African Cup of Nations with the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire.
He helped Quingdao Huanghai to gain promotion to the Chinese Super League, though he was sent off in their last game just 10 seconds into the match, after a VAR official spotted him kicking out at an opponent.
He won 101 caps for Côte d’Ivoire scoring 19 goals.
