Barely one year after he was promoted to the Apejes of Mfou first team,18 year old Midfielder,Yannick Yvan Gombo has agreed a 2 year deal to join Spanish side, Alcoyano.
Under the guidance of coach, Herman Sokba last season,he was one of the best amongst young players in the Cameroon league one championship.He scored 8 goals,provided 6 assists and was in the LFPC team of the weeks on 3 occasions in 29 games.To cap the exceptional year,Gombo participated got his first taste of national team Football as a member of the Cameroon under 20 team in the AFCON qualifiers.
Gombo is a graduate of the Apejes Academy, he will reunite with former teammate at Apejes and another Cameroonian, Emmanuel Omgba a more experienced Midfielder all on the books of CD Alcoyano. Franck Sob left Apejes for Alcoyano at the end of last season and has made a strong start at the Spanish secunda B club.
Apejes is building her reputation as one of the best clubs in moulding young players in Cameroon;the likes of Samuel Oum Gwet,Franck Boya,Aime Gando now plying their trade in Europe are all evidence of the good job that the club is doing.
CD Alcoyano face Barcelona B this Sunday,the club currently occupies the 10th spot in group 3 of the Spanish third tier championship in Spain.The club has accumulated 23 points after 19 games.
