Hasaacas Ladies yesterday forced a bitter pills down the throat of Soccer Intellectuals after defeating them by a lone goal.
The win was Hasmal’s second victory on the road after whipping Lady Strikers 2-1in Cape Coast in the week one fixture.
The first stanza begun as a defensive battle where both goalkeepers kept their nets clean without a goal in the first 40 minutes.
However, Black Princesses slippery winger Millot Abena Pokua sailed a ball over Intellectuals GK Selina Abalansa to register the first gaol of the game in 41st minutes when the host failed to deal with a throw in conceded at the edge of the goal area.
Intellectuals effected substitution to bolster their attacking machinery which looked erratic.
Both teams played cautiously in the first department of the game with few goal scoring opportunities but Millot’s goal proved to be the Game Changer until hostilities was brought to an end in the first half.
The homesters threw more men forward after recess in their quest to pull parity and in the process Hasaacas conceded three consecutive coner kicks but diminutive defender of the “do” girls, Janet Agyir proved unyielding and dealth with all the threat mounted on them.
There was a temporary hold up in the game as assistant referee 1 complained of intimations from the home fans who were unamused by her decisions but the security personnel on duty dealth with the situation and proceedings continued.
Hasaacas gaffer Yusif Basigi also effected some changes to contain the pressure from the homesters which worked to perfection.
They came close on few occasions to double their lead but were woeful upfront.
The win put Hasmal Ladies 2nd on the Southern Zone league log, 2 points adrift leaders Berry Ladies who have unblemished record of accumulated all points at stake in all the matches played so far.
The game became a ding dong battle until the blast of the final whistle.
Black Princesses midfielder Evelyn Badu bagged the NASCO Woman of the match award.
