Divine Oduduru and Blessing Okagbare will be given a spot at the starting line for the 200 meters at world championships.
Blessing Okagbare & Divine Oduduru had appealed the International Association of Athletics Federation’s decision to disqualify them from World Athletics Championship.
They were disqualified from running the 200m & relays after a Do Not Start (DNS) in the 100m. They appealed on the grounds that they informed the AFN, they would only run the 200m.
The Athletes were disqualified from taking part in any other race after the two had decided to leave out the 100 metres to concentrate on the 200 metres.
The two athletes; Blessing Okagbare and Divine Oduduru were obviously left unhappy by the decision and had put the blame on the federation.
“It’s not the first time they’ve done a thing like this…People here take the rules seriously & we keep bending them. It’s wrong. It’s incompetency. I feel like they’re wasting my world champs. I don’t know how many more I have. I’m 30.” Okagbare told the Associated Press.
According to Nigeria Athletics on Twitter
”They have been reinstated. But we can only wait if Divine will make the 200m startlist later this evening.”
