Women’s Premier League clubs have been tasked to have at least one female in their coaching staff from 2021/22 season
The Executive Council of Ghana Football Association on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 decided that each of the 16 Women’s Premier League clubs should have at least one female in its coaching staff effective 2021/2022 league season.
The directive is aimed to encourage female participation in coaching, building opportunities for female coaches, provide positive role models for girls, promote fair-play and co-operation and to help build strong, basic technical fundamentals and create social support structures for Women’s football.
According to the FA’s Executive Council, only 3 female coaches manage at the elite level, hence the decision.
The Council has also decided that some of the Women’s league matches would be played as curtain raisers to some big Ghana Premier League matches in future.
