South West regional basketball side, Volcanic Warriors of Buea and 7 other teams in the Cameroon Women’s domestic basketball championship will begin their campaign for the 2021/2022 season this weekend on Saturday December 4, 2021
Volcanic Warriors will kick start its campaign with a duel against the University of Douala basketball team at 2pm on Saturday.
The team led by Coach Ifose Emile will clash with Ecole de Basket Douala on Sunday December 5 in their second and last game of the first phase of the regular season as the outfit continues its gradual quest to dominate women’s basketball in Cameroon.
Six other games will be staged for the first two games of the regular season with three matches programed for Saturday December 4 as defending champions Overdose Yaounde clash with new comers United Ladies of Douala basketball team in the opening game of the season at 12pm.
AS Keep The Dream will be up against ONYX of Yaounde while giants FAP of Yaounde battles out with Ecole de Basket Douala.
On Sunday December 5, ONYX Yaounde will launch the show for the day two games with duel against United Ladies of Douala at 8am.
Favorites FAP of Yaounde and AS Keep The Dream Yaounde will take the command baton at 10am while new found sweeping giants, Overdose of Yaounde who have emerged champions in the last three seasons, close the first phase of the regular season with a clash against the University of Douala Basketball team in arguably the most awaited fixture of the phase.
A total of 8 teams will be participating in the 2021/2022 national women’s basketball championship in Cameroon.
All the eight teams will play 7 matches each in the regular season of the competition, after which the top four most ranked teams will book tickets to the Final Four phase of the championship where Cameroon league champion will be decided.
The men’s version of the competition will be launched after the round of 16 games of the Basketball Africa League where FAP of Yaounde will be representing Cameroon.
The Basketball Africa League is a new basketball championship put in place by basketball governing body, FIBA to promote and develop basketball in Africa especially at the club level.
