The president of the Cameroon football federation, FECAFOOT, has announced to stakeholders of women’s top-flight Clubs in Cameroon that the championship will be bankrolled by Guinness Cameroon SA from the 2020-2021 season.
The announcement was made during a working session of stakeholders this Thursday, October 1.
The historic feat is a major step in achieving growth of the women’s game in the country largely considered as second only to Nigeria on the continent.
As part of the package, Guiness Cameroon SA has taken an obligation to directly pay the Salaries of women’s footballers that will be duly affiliated by Clubs and participate in the competition henceforth.
The move is one of many innovative strategies that were discussed during the session.
In addition, president Njoya announced that they have reached an agreement with Cameroon’s state Broadcaster, CRTV, for a minimum of 22 League matches to be aired on the network.
Plus, all games of the championship will be played in standard pitches, organization of an end of season award ceremony to encourage which is built around post-match prizes for players.
FECAFOOT has also agreed to provide equipments to Clubs ahead of the resumption of the Top-flight Championship on October 17th and the second tier competition on October 30th.
FECAFOOT has plans underway to provide better security of Athletes in regions facing political crisis.
The Mbombo Njoya-led FECAFOOT have manifested their desire to achieve unprecedented results in the women’s game since taking office less than two ago.
