Just like the first phase of the tournament where Mali ruled over Egypt twice and Senegal once, the defending champions continued it dominance beating Senegal again.
This time it was whitewash of a score, winning 74 points to Senegal’s 39 points.
Though it seemed it was going to be a different ball game from the first meeting as Senegal took an early lead in the first quarter of the game winning 18 points to Mail’s 13 points.
However, it all turned out it was to awaken the Malians who came out in the second quarter guns blazing and taking the Lionesses to the cleaners.
Mali took the second quarter 16-6 to end the first half with a 29-24 win.
From then on, it was Mali all the way dispatching Senegal in the third quarter 20-8 and 25-7 in the fourth quarter.
Saran Berthe’s contribution of 12 points and 1 rebounds gave the Senegalese a tough time in the first half while Diarrah Issa Sissoko 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists caused more havoc on the Senegalese team who are yet to win.
