Mali’s Diouma Berthe scored 33 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists to help Mali beat the host 68-55.
Egypt though tried to come back after falling 40-25 in the first half of the contest, but Mali’s might didn’t fizzle out remaining on course to win it final game of the first phase.
Mali go against Senegal on Monday to begin the second phase.
