Players of Ethiopian premier league side Wolkite Ketema have directed their salaries for the month of March towards contribution for the fight against the CoronaVirus in their country.
The players intentions to channel their salaries to this purpose was made public on Monday through a release signed by most of the players of the club.
It is the first football club in the country to make this move.
The country’s premier league is the highest domestic club competition within the country but unfortunately it has been off since mid of the month of March following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic after their last game on March 12 against Adama Kenema.
The players join a handful of footballers around the world who have raised funds for the fight against the deadly global pandemic.
They currently occupies the 12th spot in the 14 clubs championship with just 22 points from 17 games.
Fasil Kenema currently sit top of the championship with 30 points from 17 games so far.
