It has been a very busy weekend for Cameroonians fooyballers handling their regular season activities or building up for the new season.
Moumi Ngamaleu,Gael Ondoua, Jean Pierre Nsame, Aime Marcelin Biala have all been busy.
There was a draw in the opening day fixture of the Swiss topflight between defending champions Young Boys of Berne and newly promoted Servette.
Three Cameroonian players were involved from start to finish.
Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu and Jean Pierre Nsame who failed to make Clarence Seedorf’s 2019 AFCON team for diverse reasons with Young Boys and newly recruited 23 year old midfielder Gael Ondoua from Anzhi Makhachkala for Servette.
Moumi Ngamaleu opened the scoring for his first of the season at the 5th minute but Young Boys failed to hold on to the advantage. Ngamaleu who scored 10 goals in last season’s league winning campaign will look to do better this season.
Former Indomitable Tsafack Landry Nguemo has found a new lease of life in the Norwegian second tier after concluding a move to Kongsvinger in mid-season. The former Nancy and Celtic midfielder could not prevent a 1-0 loss to for his team away to Sandefjord on the 14th day of play in the Norwegian second tier.

With his AFCON non-selection disappointments almost behind him now, after an apology to the staff and his teammates for his misplaced voice-note on the coach and some of his teammates of the Indomitable Lions, Cameroon midfielder Petrus Boumal Mayega was fully focused on the task at hand when Akhmat Grozny came calling at URAL’s 35,696 capacity Ekaterinburg Arena. The 26 year old Cameroon midfielder had the full confidence of his coach Dmytro Parfenov who played him for the entire game as URAL were comfortable 3-0 winners. With two wins in their two opening fixtures of the season, URAL now sit top of the Russian Premier League.
22 year old Cameroon serial goal scoring midfielder Aime Marcelin Gando Biala was on the bench for the entire game in FCI Levadia’s emphatic away 0-3 win against Kuressaare in Day 20 of the Estonian topflight.
The 22 year old native of Loum who has scored 7 goals already this season is out of favour in the eyes of their 37 year old Serbian coach Aleksandar Rogic.
FCI Levadia are currently second on the log with 47 points, five points away from league leaders Flora Talinn.
There was a 1-1 draw between AaB Alborg and visiting SonderjysSKE on the second day of play of the Danish Super Liga. Coach Glen Riddersholm of SonderjysSke did not need the services of his 22 year old Camerronians. Midfielder Victor Sylvestre Mpindi Ekani watched from the bench while forward William Joel Tchuameni Kouemo was in the stands.
SonderjysKE are currently fourth on the league after a win and a draw in their opening two fixtures.
It was a day of mixed fortunes for KuPS’ Cameroon duo of 30 year old Yaounde born forward Ariel Thierry Ngueukam and 25 year old defender Luc Landry Tabi Manga. In their day 16 fixture against Marieham, their 43 year old coach Jani Honkavaara opted to play Ngueukam for the entire game, while Tabi Manga watched from the bench as they drew 0-0 at home to Marieham. The draw had no bearing on the league standings as KuPS stayed third while their opponents maintained their seventh position on the log.
2017 AFCON best player Christian Bassogog returned action in the Chinese Super League for Henan Jianye who played to a goalless draw against former Indomitable Lions’ captain Stephane Mbia Etoundi’s Wuhan Zall in their 29,000 capacity Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium.
Henan Jianye’s coach Wang Baoshan preferred to leave Bassogog on the bench after his disappointing AFCON 2019 campaign while his teammate and compatriot Franck Ohandza started the game. Ohandza had to make way at the 69th minute for Bassogog.
On his part, 33 year old Stephane Mbia played the entire game for Wuhan Zall.
Born in Nigeria on March 9, 1993, 26 year old Cameroon forward John Mary Honi Uzueghunam and Shenzhen were on the end of a 3-0 hammering from Shandong Luneng. The Cameroon forward played for 68 minutes with no telling contribution for the Shenzhen.
Former Cintra of Yaounde offensive midfielder 39 year old Herman Dzumafo Epandi played the entire game for Bhayanghara in their 0-1 home defeat to Persipura in a match Day 10 game of the Indonesian Liga 1. They now occupy the 4th position on the log while Persipura are on the 12th spot.
29 year old Cameroon midfielder Loius Parfait Eloumou Essengue played the entire game for league leaders Tira-Persikabo who drew 1-1 away to Persebaya Surabaya.
32 year old forward Guy Junior Nke Ondoa was not in action for PSM as their away game against Kalteng Putra was postponed.
In the Vietnamese V-League, two Cameroonians were in action.
23 year old forward Aime Djicka Gassissou started from the bench in NA Nang’s 2-0 win against NAM Dinh. He was was introduced at the 43rd minute. It was the first win for team after a run of four consecutive defeats.
His compatriot Louis Christian Ewonde Epassi who started in Ho Chi Minh City’s high scoring 3-3 draw away to Thanh Hoa, had to make way just after 24 minutes as the defender was injured.
In the US second tier, Cameroon defender Pascal Eboussi was an unused substitute for San Antonio in the 0-0 away draw against Orange County.
It was a night to forget for young Cameroon midfielder Jerome Ngom Mbekeli, though he played for 83 minutes for Swope Park in their game against Ottawa Fury. They were severely beaten by the home side 4-0.
18 year old Cameroon forward Lionel Abate Etoundi only made way at the 90th minute for Real Monarchs in their 0-0 draw away to El Paso Locomotive.
A round-up in the USA will not be complete without mentioning that Indomitable Lionesses rock slide defender Estelle Laura Johnson was in action for Sky Blue against Orlando Pride. The 31 year old Cameroon defender played for 46 minutes before making way in their 0-1 away loss.
