Intermediate Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward Jacques Zoua Daogari has told the media that Sunday final group A encounter against Burkina Faso in the ongoing African Nations Championship is a must win for Cameroon and they are up for that.
Speaking during Saturday’s traditional pre-match briefing, the experienced footballer and skipper of Cameroon’s team didn’t mince words.
“The game against Burkina Faso is a very important game. We will give our all to win against Burkina Faso,” Zoua stated.
The 29-year-old AS Futuro of Mfou forward has been cleared to return to the Cameroon on Sunday after missing his country’s second group game against Mali because of a muscle problem he has since dealt with.
Zoua’s return is a huge boast for group A leaders Cameroon and a boast to the chances of the host beating third-seeded Burkina Faso to reach the knock-out stages of the competition.
Cameroon who count just two appearances in the quarter final of the African Nations Championship know the game against Burkina Faso is decisive and they need a point to progress to the last eight.
The build up to the game hasn’t been all serene as media in an attempt to make news of every move in the den has carried some stories Zoua classify as rumors.
“The bonus problems are mare rumors created on the social media, we are serene,” calm and collected Zoua concluded.
The 2017 AFCON winner is likely to play a part for Cameroon on Sunday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium when 22 millions Cameroonians from across the ten regions of the country unite behind the host with hopes of seeing the Lions book a quarter-final spot in the sixth edition of the CHAN.
Burkina Faso go into the game as a very motivated side needing a win to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. It looks like good timing at least because the local Stallions just recorded their first CHAN victory during their last game against Zimbabwe.
