Cranes of Uganda coach, Jonathan McKinstry says his players will find a different challenge on Friday against Togo but his technical team has solutions to this.
“Togo will present a different challenge from Rwanda but we don’t want to give them their rhythm in the game. If we do that, we shall be punished. We know both teams provide different challenges and we must get solutions. We know Togo will come into the game looking to improve as well but we feel that we have solutions for the game against Togo.”
Uganda Cranes Head coach Johnathan McKinstry responds to questions from local and international media during the Uganda vs Togo Pre-match press conference on Thursday, ahead of Group C CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Tournament 2021 at Stade de la Réunification, Bepanda.
Milton Karisa will not play their next game after being forced out of the Rwanda game due to injury.
McKinstry opined that his side will have to find the balance when they square up with Togo.
He said: “In the current situation where it is for the rest of the teams in the tournament playing after every three days, we have got to find the balance between the technical and tactical part that you want to do on the field.
“Togo plays differently from Rwanda. The boys look confident ahead of the match with Togo. We shall make small adjustments going into this game.”
After playing out a barren draw with Rwanda in their Group C opener, Uganda will hope to pick their first point against Togo on Friday by 8:00 pm local time.
Togo suffered a slim 1-0 defeat to defending Champions, Morocco in their opening game.
They were responsible for the elimination of the Super Eagles of Nigeria ensuring that last tournament’s runners-up didn’t qualify for the tournament.
Group leaders and defending Champions, Atlas Lions of Morocco on the other will play Rwanda in the first game by 5:00 pm local time with a victory sealing their place in the quarter-final.
