Last encounter of group stage games for pool C, Rwanda’s lead trainer Vincent Mashami promises “hell” to opponent.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Vincent Mashami admits the cruciality of the game and the well placed Togo team but keeps his hopes on game time.
“Our next game is crucial. We know the importance of winning this game. Our opponent are more motivated and confident based on their last result. We are ready in all aspects with ingredients to get the right result. We need to give our best and put pressure on our opponent. We have reviewed some the videos of the Togolese team. They are a very good side. Its a matter of 90 minutes to determine the outcome of the game.”
A win for Rwanda will guarantee a place in the knock-out stage of the competition and an opportunity to prolong their stay in Cameroon, enjoying her amenities
“A pre and major tournament are different things all together. Full security, hotels, and personnel plus stadia are key which makes it different from pre tournament. I want to thank the LOC and CAF for staging this tournament. We are happy to be in Cameroon which is the major reason why we want to stay here. It is a beautiful country with good people, press, and we want to live this moment.” Rwanda coach Vincent Mashami
The Amavubi’s did not have the opportunity of training with more than one opponent, attesting why their play style has been funny. To the head coach, training will be intensified and more scoring tactics impacted on players.
“We only had Congo Brazaville during pre CHAN preparation which gave us little opportunity to better test our team. We are thankful for the game. A few things and mistakes were worked on. We saw our weaknesses in the last two games. We still have a lot to work on in terms of finishing and ball possession. We were a better side in the first game but unfortunately could not utilise our chances which is why we keep on training and giving the players confidence. Two days to recover with training. So far so good we are working on players recovery. We need to have the ball fast to be able to score goals as one can not score without the ball. We need to be aggressive. It’s a sad thing that we have not been able to score so far. We have no other option than to score goals and win this game to have any chance in this tournament.” Vincent Mashami
Rwanda will face maiden participant Togo in their third game in the group stage, January 26, 2021, in Limbe. The Amavubi’s are ranked third with two points. A win for them will certainly mean a pass to the quarter finals.
