Pierpaolo Marino, the owner of Udinese of Italy and Watford FC of England has revealed that an announcement to end the English Premier League is imminent.
The club owner revealed this to Sportitalia amidst ravaging effect of the novel coronavirus which has seen league football in Europe and countries of the world paused.
Marino’s revelation comes few days after the Belgian League was ended with one game to spare and Club Brugge pronounced champions.
”The Belgian Federation has already sanctioned the end of their league, despite the threats of sanctions from UEFA,” Marino told Sportitalia.
”In England, the Premier League is about to release a similar statement, because the situation there is becoming very, very serious. I frankly just hope we can enjoy football again after the coronavirus.
“It doesn’t matter how long it takes, we need to get out of this danger zone. I am worried for the next seasons, not the old one.”
Two clubs; Udinese and Watford are owned by Pozzo family and are very strongly linked, repeatedly exchanging players on loan or permanent transfers.
Liverpool sit comfortably at the zenith of the English Premier League with twenty five points ahead of rival Manchester City after twenty nine matches played.
