Teenage sensational forward Wassou Goue Patient has made his senior debut for Cotonsport of Garoua during this Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage game against Al Masry of Egypt.
The sensational winger noted for his trickery on the has impressed since joining the feeder team of Cotonsport of Garoua just over a year ago and this afternoon he had his opportunity.
The 16-year old demonstrated his class during the 2021 Easter cup Patricia Berthelot as he scored five goals in five games, including a hat-trick as he helped Cotonsport to the runners-up position to Brasserie Football Academy.
Wassou who scored four goals and assisted the same number for Anicet Mbarga Foe’s Under-17 Lions team during their preparations for the abandoned AFCON tournament is considered one of the fastest player of his generation.
Wassou’s promotion to the first team gives him the chance to reunite with other teenagers, Jean Eric Moursou and Aboubakar Saddik. Both players joined the first team from the feeder team in the build-up to the current season and Moursou who is Wassou’s international colleague.
He replaced Daman Abdouraham in the 47th minute of the goalless draw against Al Masry and showed glimpses of his class.
Wassou was a part of the Cameroon squad that was retained for the 2021 Under-17 AFCON tournament that was cancelled by the Confederation of African Football.
