At the final group A game of the WAFU Women’s Tournament, host nation, Sierra Leone could not qualify as they drew their last game against Senegal while Cape Verde scale through after beating Guinea.
Sierra Leone did not progress as the their one all draw against the Senegalese could only keep three points after drawing all their group games.
They played a goalless draw against Liberia and Guinea in their first two matches.
At the Bo Mini Stadium, the Sierra Leonean women got off to a good start taking the lead in the 61st minutes but a last minutes goal from Mama Diop crashed their hopes of qualification.
Meanwhile, Cape Verde sure of qualification after trouncing Guinea three goals to nil.
Cape Verde who had lost to Senegal and drawn against Sierra Leone but did their chance of qualification a great deal on Sunday.
Irlanda Lopez scored a hattrick to sink the Guineans.
As early as two minutes she scored to set the ball rolling.
Lopez scored her second in the 72nd minutes and made it three in the 78th minutes.
Group B games will be concluded today with Guinea Bissau playing Mali while Gambia play Liberia.
