In today’s group B matches of the WAFU zone A Women’s Tournament, the Malian female team sealed their qualification into the semifinals while Gambia awakened their chances of qualification after Friday’s win.
Mali defeated Liberia three goals to nil at the Wusum Mini Stadium in today’s second group B tie.
Mali had won their first game by six goals to nil against Gambia securing a place in the semifinals with a game to spare.
Senebu Sidibe who was on the score sheet in the first match opened score for Mali. Binta Diarra made it before the end of the first half. Aguissia Diarra put the icing on the cake at the 78th minutes with the third goal.
Gambia on the other hand, bounced back to win their second game after a six zero thumping by Mali in the first game.
Gambia triumph five goals to two against a Guinea Bissau team that lost their first game ending their campaign in the process.
Guinea scored first through Tchaloda Mane in the fourth minutes but Adama Tamba replied quickly in the seventh minutes for Gambia.
Veva Te restored the lead for Guinea Bissau before the end of first half in the 44th minute.
However, Adama Tamba scored three goals in the second half to give Gambia a 4-2 lead before Ola Buwuro completed the emphatic win.
Mali will play Guinea Bissau while Liberia and Gambia will slog it out for qualification in the last group B game.
On Sunday, Senegal will play host nation Sierra Leone while Cape Verde will play Guinea in the last group A games.
