The Confederation of African Football, CAF has named Cameroon’s Atezambong Carine Fomo as part of the team of match officials for tonight WAFCON 2022 quarter-final clash between host Morocco and newcomers Botswana.
CAF confirmed the move to use the experience officiating team this week as part of efforts to ensure perfect officiating in the game which will also decide direct 2023 World Cup qualification.
The huge refereeing team includes Vincentia Enyonam Amedome from Togo as referee while Carine and Mali’s celebrated Fanta Kone are first and second assistants respectively.
Sonia Kone from the Ivory Coast has been appointed the fourth official and Mariem Chedad from Mauritania.
Tunisia’s Haithem Guiyat will be Video Assistant Referee, Ahmed Hossam Taha Ibrahim and Dorsaf Ganouati is another of the VAR.
Carine in her third game of the tournament will be one of the attractions in the quarter final fixture given her amazing career. One of very few women referee in Cameroon’s men’s top tier championship. The former karateka and Judoka became a FIFA international referee in 2015.
During her time as a FIFA badge holder she has been assigned top jobs during WAFCON 2016, CHAN 2020, AFCON 2021 , the Women and Men’s CAF Champions League plus different categories of the FIFA World cup.
