Nine-time African champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria on Thursday edge Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Naija Ratels 2-1 in its first tune-up match ahead of the team’s trip to Morocco for the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Nigeria stepped up TotalEnergies WAFCON 2022 preparation by pipping NWFL side Naija Ratels 2-1 in a friendly at the Moshood Abiola Stadium training pitch on Thursday.
CSKA Moscow (Russia) player, Francisca Ordega and Deportivo’s Charity Adule were on target for the Super Falcons.
Oyinlola Olamide scored Naija Ratels’ lone goal as the NWFL Premiership side gave a good account of themselves.
Super Falcons is using the game to prepare for WAFCON 2022 and are expected to play more games before heading to Morocco for the tournament.
The arrival of Ifeoma Onumonu, Vivian Ikechukwu, and Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene increased the total number of Super Falcons players in camp to 31.
The team will attempt to win its tenth African title and also continue its feat of qualifying for all editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since 1991.
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C alongside Banyana Banyana of South Africa and two (2) debutants, Burundi and Botswana.
