In its second preparatory game in Abuja on Thursday ahead of the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), nine-time African Champions and WAFCON holders, Super Falcons of Nigeria forced 2021/2022 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership winners, Bayelsa Queens to a 1-1 draw.
Aderemi Mary scored for Bayelsa Queens in the 16th minute. The goal came as a result of the high-pressing game which caused the Super Falcons’ defence into mistakes.
After holding on to the one-goal lead, Bayelsa Queens surrendered the goal in the 90th minute as Onome Ebi equalised with a powerful header from a corner kick.
Super Falcons had earlier defeated another NWFL Premiership side, Naija Ratels FC 2-1 on Thursday as part of the team’s preparation for WAFCON 2022 where the team will face Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Burundi, and Botswana.
Bayelsa Queens on its part will face Nasarawa Amazons on Saturday in another friendly.
The Nigerian Champions are using the friendly games to prepare for the upcoming West Africa Zone B (WAFU B) Zonal Qualifiers for the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.
