Nigeria forward Rasheedat Ajibade has made it public knowledge that the Super Falcons intend to go all the way and win the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

They reached the semifinals after ejecting fellow giants Cameroon 1-0 courtesy of Ajibade’s lone strike in the 56th minute in the quarterfinal encounter played at Stade Mohammed V on Thursday.

Nigeria is the most successful nation in this competition with 11 trophies and if they win the Morocco edition, it will be their record 12th WAFCON title.

“I dedicate this trophy to my entire team. These girls are just fantastic. Without them, I would not be here before you with this reward,” Ajibade said after receiving the woman of the match accolade.

“Nigeria could not afford to be absent for this meeting. There is a new generation of Super Falcons, who arrive hungry and deserve for the world to see their talent.”

“We know what we came here for, we want to leave with the cup, our decima,” Ajibade added.

The Atletico Madrid player has scored three goals in the ongoing tournament so far and she is the joint top scorer with Morocco’s captain Ghizlane Chebbak.

The West Africans recovered from their opening 2-1 defeat to South Africa in Group C and are now through to the last four which means that they will be playing in the World Cup for a ninth consecutive time.

In the other game played on the same day, South Africa also edged Tunisia 1-0 at Moulay Hassan FUS stadium.

Nigerians will take on hosts Morocco in the semifinals on Monday, July 18 while South Africa will play against Zambia on the same day.
