Nine-time WAFCON title holders; the historical and legendary Super Falcons of Nigeria.
Super Falcons have been in every single TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) thus far.
Nigeria met giants in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire in the Qualifiers and edged them 2-1 (Ghana) and 3-0 (Cote d’Ivoire) on aggregate thanks to Coach Randy Waldrum’s outstanding vision.
The team’s road to Morocco 2022 WAFCON had been remarkable with captain, Onome Ebi fearlessly leading them to the tournament alongside the likes of Rasheedat Ajibade and Francisca Ordega.
So much is expected from the Super Falcons of Nigeria at this year’s edition.
Africa’s player of the year, Asisat Oshoala will add so much flair to the team as she is following the footsteps of the Nigerian legend, Perpetua Nkwocha.
Nigeria has won nine of the previous eleven tournaments, clinching the title in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018.
Equatorial Guinea won the other two editions in 2008 and 2012.
Nigeria has hosted the tournament three times in 1998, 2002, and 2006, winning all titles at home and the other six (6) titles away from home in South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, and Cameroon.
Can the Super Falcons clinch another title this year away from home to complete a La Decima (tenth title)?
The Super Falcons will face South Africa, Burundi, and Botswana in Group C.
