Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon earn its first win at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 2-0 triumph over Tunisia in the final Group B game on Saturday.
Houston Dash’s Michaela Abam scored the first goal for the multiple finalist in the third minute of play.
Inter Milan forward, Ajara Nchout Njoya doubled the lead for Cameroon in the 90th minute.
The result ensured that Cameroon ended the group stage in the second position with five points, two points behind Copper Queens of Zambia which might set up a potential clash with the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
If the nine-time African Champions finish its Group C campaign in the second position after today’s game with Burundi, Nigeria will face Cameroon in the quarter-final.
Copper Queens of Zambia finished top of Group B after a 4-1 win over debutants, Togo which ended the latter’s maiden campaign in the competition.
Tunisia also qualified for the quarter-final after they third-place finish with three points and will finish the group stage as one of the two best third-placed finishers.
