Indomitable Lionesses duo of Bawou Ange Gabrielle and Briggitte Omboudou has shared their views after participating at the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2022) in Morocco.
Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper, Bawou Ange Gabrielle was between the sticks during Cameroon’s four games at the tournament.
“I could say that for first participation it wasn’t quite as I had expected but hey I learned a lot. For a start I can only give thanks to God for what he has done, the best remains ahead.” Bawou Ange Gabrielle told www.kick442.com.
Gabrielle won the 2022 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six with Bayelsa Queens and emerged as the best goalkeeper.
“You know when you reach the top you want to stay, and for that, the work must be done in a triple way because it is easy to reach the top but difficult to maintain.” She concluded.
For Rivers Angels, Omboudou Brigitte, she was short of words on how she felt after her WAFCON debut for the Indomitable Lionesses.
She said: “Thank you, for the moment I can’t find words but it was a great joy for the first time.”
Cameroon crashed out in the quarter-final with Rasheedat Ajibade’s header winning the game for the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
The defeat ensured that Cameroon and Senegal will enter the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Inter-Confederation Playoffs for a place to qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Bawou Ange Gabrielle will focus on the Aiteo Cup (FA Cup) with Bayelsa Queens as well as the WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers for CAF Women’s Champions League in September where Bayelsa Queens will face Ampem Darkoa (Ghana), USFA (Burkina Faso), and Athleta FC (Togo) in Group B.
Omboudou Brigitte on her part will shift focus on Rivers Angels 2022 Aiteo Cup campaign.
