The head coach of the Volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon Jean Rene Akono and his team of 14 girls have been in Cairo since the early hours of Sunday as they prepare to begin battle to retain the crown they won on home soil two years ago.

Moma Laeticia(Most Valuable Player in the 2017 competition) and her team mates arrived their based at Cataract Hotel in Cairo in the early hours of Sunday and rested before getting to work on Monday afternoon when they had their first full training session under the guidance of coach Rene Akono.

Nasser Raisser who won the Best Libero Award, Koulla Henrietta the best pass maker in the last AFCON, Fotso Stephanie the best blocker and Nana Christelle the best scorer will  be expected to be the leaders of the squad after their brilliant output 2 years ago in Cameroon.

Botswana, Morocco, Algeria, DRC, multiple winners Kenya and host Egypt were also present as at  Sunday.

The competition begins on the 9th July to run till the 15 July in Cairo-Egypt.

The pairings of the different participating nations will take place this Monday in Cairo.
