Panthere Security Filles has avoided relegation in the Cameroon Women’s League 1 football championship. Following their 5#3 post_match penalty shootout win of Social du Mbam, in a relegation playoffs game at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza this Sunday.
Angan Bilong was the only player who missed her kick, as she watched her weak shot being saved by Goalkeeper Timothee Envoudou Amougou. Panthere Security and Social du Mbam were fighting to avoid joining AS Green City and Maranatha FC, as relegated teams.
After a narrow escape, and securing a place in the Women’s top flight for next term, Captain Viviane Mefire Peka of Panthere Security, describes it as “a great victory”. Speaking to the press after the game, the 17 year old said “We consider this survival as a great victory, because it is our only first win of the season,It was not easy. We left from defeat to defeat, so we were counting on this last day to keep this club in this division”.
The Cameroon international added that their mental strength, gave them the advantage over Social of Mbam. “I think the match was played more on the mental aspect. We had more determination than Social of Mbam, though they too had a good performance”.
Born on December 19, 2001, the 1.61 meters Midfielder, Viviane Mefire Peka has captained the Under 17 Lionesses of Cameroon in the 2018 Under 17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay. She is currently part of the 23 players in camp, preparing for the upcoming All African games scheduled for Morocco this August.
