Intermediate Lions of Cameroon defender Aurelien Ngombe Etame Matanda is a subject of transfer interest from Congolese top-flight outfit AS Vita Club of Kinshasa.
Club insiders have told kick442.com that lead trainer Florent Ibenge has identified the 26-year old Cotonsport of Garoua sweeper as an element he wants on board for Vita Club.
Etame starred for Cameroon during the just-ended African Nations Championship, featuring in all five games as the host reached a record fourth place with regular displays of his qualities on and off the ball.
The erstwhile Njalla Quan Sports Academy of Limbe defender was included in the CAF team of the group stage of the competition following his imposing performance in the fixtures against Zimbabwe, Mali and Burkina.
Etame is in the first year of a two-year contract with Cotonsport of Garoua and constitute an important part of the Club’s investment making it a tough ask to get him away.
That said, nothing is impossible for ‘money bag’ Vita especially in the circumstances of dealing with the departure of defensive rock Yannick Bangala a few weeks back and their engagement in the ever-demanding CAF Champions League.
Cotonsport and Vita Club have done a pair of deals together recently including the transfers of Simon Omossola and Pascal Mbarga Abega to the Kinshasa Club in the build up to the current season.
Its unclear how much efforts Vita may have made so far but its certain Etame can only leave Garoua for a big deal.
