It was a great performance for two of Africa’s biggest stars in the NBA this morning.
Nigerian international, Gabriel Vincent led the Miami Heats to a 107:104 win over their Eastern rivals, the Chicago Bulls in a battle for top place in the East. Gabriel Vincent led the scoring for the Heats contributing 20 points, 5 assists and 2 rebounds.
The Heats leapfrog the Bulls to 13:7, 2nd seed in the East, just behind the Brooklyn Nets. The Chicago Bulls fall to 13:8, 4th seed in the East after the loss.
Cameroonian international, Joel Embiid recovered from Covid-19 to score a game high 42 points and 14 rebounds but could not prevent the Philadelphia 76ers from falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 120:121 in overtime. Joe Embiid has been absent for more than a week, and the Philadelphia 76ers struggled in his absence. Before his absence, they were 8:2, 1st seed in the East, but after he fell ill, they were 10:9, 9th seed and following today’s loss, have fallen further to 10:10, 10th seed in the East. The Minnesota Timberwolves were led by D’Angelo Russel 35 points (27 of which are in the fourth quarter) and 8 assists.
Finally, Nigerian international, Miye Oni was in action from the bench as the Utah Jazz got their revenge in a 127:105 win against the New Orleans Pelicans. Miye Oni had a quiet night and could only contribute a rebound and an assist in the game.
