29-year-old Cameroonian international skipper Vincent Aboubakar has made an impressive start of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2021. He made his presence felt during the opener between Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Stallions of Burkina Faso counting for his Ninth AFCON participation.
Both teams locked horns at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde Sunday January 9, 2021 were Cameroon beat Burkina Faso 2#1 to pick first three points.
Vincent Aboubakar in his ninth AFCON participation made a remarkable start leveling scores from the penalty spot 36 minutes into first half after a penalty from Cameroon were initially waved away by Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal, before the VAR notified him to have a second look from the pitch side monitor.
Before the end of the second half of the game, Aboubakar Vincent put the lions ahead from the penalty spot again.
Aboubakar’s two penalty spot goals marks his second and third AFCON goal after scoring the first during the 2017 Finals in Gabon against Egypt which changed the scoreboard to 2#1 giving the Lions their fifth AFCON title.
He was later substituted 87 minutes for Neyou Ivan and his Brace put lions ahead securing all three points in AFCON opener to top Group A.
The Al-Nassr forward for country now counts over 26 goals with the Indomitable Lions since debuting in 2010, and six for Club.
