British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Sports is reporting that Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has been banned from participating in the next African Cup of Nations and the Under-20 World Cup in Poland.

Gernot Rohr has reacted to the ban, describing it as a dilemma – but admits that he understands the decision.
Chukuweze has been one of Villarreal’s best players this term and will be greatly missed by Nigeria if he is not part of either competitions.
“It is a little dilemma that we must try to fix and hopefully there will be a good solution,” Rohr told BBC Sport.

“I understand when the club say it is impossible for him to play in the Afcon and youth World Cup. Chukwueze has good qualities and we already see why he plays at the top level in Spain.”

He has played 46 games for Villarreal this season, scoring ten goals and providing 4 assists. He made his Super Eagles debut against Uganda last November and played for the Nigeria Under-23 in March.
