Nigerian forward Victor James Osimhen has earned great comparisons with legendary Ivorian forward Didier Drogba, since his blistering start with Lille in the French Ligue 1.

The 20 year old native of Lagos joint Lille from Charleroi this season and has since then hit the ground running.

He has already scored eight goals and provided two assists in 13 games in all competitions for the French club.

Osimhen has revealed what could be the secret behind his success in the French top flight just like a certain Didier Drogba during his days with Guingamp and Marseille.

The young Nigerian revealed that he has been a huge admirer of the African great, Didier Drogba and that he observed him a lot as a child.

“Drogba is my idol. I mean in every sense of the word. On every aspect. The man, of course, and also the player that he was,” Osimhen told France Football.

“I grew up watching him. And even now I am always watching his videos during my resting moments. In my free time I go to YouTube, I watch his goals, I watch whole games of him during his time with Marseille, Chelsea, Galatasaray…Unfortunately I have not yet had the chance to meet him. I can’t wait to meet him someday. It will be a moment I will never forget. And more especially I will use the moment to get advise from him.”

The Nigerian international has taken the French Ligue 1 by storm, if you still had questions on what was behind his success, then you have your answer now.

If he has to emulate the career of his idol, then he has to show consistency for at least a decade which is feat Drogba, Eto’o and the other greats achieved to endear themselves in African and world football folklore.
