French Women’s Elite Volleyball team Nantes have completed the acquisition of 23-year old Cameroonian descent Receptionist-attacker Vanessa Agbortabi.
The club announced they had reached an agreement for the transfer of the player from German Bundesliga giants SC Potsdam on Tuesday.
1.81M meters player who holds a German passport previously played for Berlin VV, VC Olympia Berlin, Rote Raben Vilsbiburg but it’s his first move to a Club out of Germany since her professional career started five years ago.
Agbortabi who opted to represent Cameroon over Germany in 2020 moves to France with a familiar culture.
Her arrival is expected to boast the form of struggling FC Nantes.
Volley-Ball Nantes is struggling this season.
The club ranked third on the log after 13 games which has amounted to four defeats. This week Club was eliminated from the French cup by Cannes.
“We had the opportunity to recruit Vanessa during this mid-season period, we saw her play during our preparation in our oppositions against Potsdam. She is a young German international player who will bring us some punch and rotation possibilities. It’s a good recruitment, we will continue our work to take the team to the highest levels, by finding the right collective balance,” The head coach of Nantes Cyril NGO told the media as Agbortabi walked through the doors for the rest of the season.
The 65kg player who once featured for Dames en noir Aix-la-Chapelle is expected to hit the ground running in Western France.
PassionNantes has offered jersey number 1 Agbor and she will debut for Nantes on Tuesday January 4 at the Arthur Dugast gymnasium against the Volley-Ball Club Chamalières of Cameroonians Estelle Adiana and Yolande Guigolo.
A number of Cameroon international ply their trade in France.
