Union Sportive of Douala’s rock solid defender Che Fondoh Malone says Union’s delayed Match-day seven encounter against Cotonsport of Garoua in Limbe on Wednesday November 27, 2019 is their biggest game of the season so far.

Coach Daniel Walinjom’s men have a chance to claim second place on the log with a win.

The Nassara Gamaki sit eighth on the log with 12 points, but a win today will move them to second as they will leap frog second placed Avion who currently have 14 points in nine games.

Union dropped to eighth after losing 1-0 to struggling Stade Renard of Melong over the weekend, but defender Che Malone ranks their clash against Cotonsport this Wednesday as the most crucial of their season so far.

“We know this is the biggest game of our season so far,” Che told kick442.com.

“We have not trained differently, the group is focused for the game, and we have all enjoyed training.

“We have to show a reaction after the loss last weekend to Stade Renard and we know nothing short of our best will be enough to earn all three points.”

Che Malone who spent last season in the cold after Continental Academy of Buea refused to grant him liberation to join Union, has become an integral part of their backline, forming a solid central defense pair with Stephane Oungene. He made his debut in a win in Yaoundé against Eding Sport of Lekie in match-day four and since then he has kept his place in the team.

Che and his teammates are determined to fight for the league title, and they know a win against Cotonsport will be a giant stride in the right direction.

Che said: “Before now some of us where playing in the regional championships and many did not give us a chance to succeed at this level, but we are determined to prove them wrong.

“We don’t take anything for granted, and Wednesday is a massive game for us. We’ll give our all and play for the pride of the Union badge.

“For many of us playing in the top flight and for a traditional club like Union of Douala is a dream come true. We have to continue to show what we can do. We have to empty the tank every time we have a run in the team. We have to keep on pushing and improve.”
