Pa Wandji, a Union Sportive of Douala fan collapsed and later died after the the shock of a miss from one of their players during their goalless draw against Stade Renard last Wednesday.
Paramedics could revive the 47-year-old as he was pronounced dead three hours after the incident occurred
A fan who’s name we gathered as Wandji, who has been a life-long Union fan could not live to see his side settle for a point in the Littoral derby that has never lacked talking points.
The game at the Bepanda Annex Stadium took a tragic turn, when a fan collapsed and later died after suffering what reports suggest is a heart issue in the stands.
Mr Wandji collapsed within minutes, the medics had arrived and performed CPR on the middle-aged fan in a Union jersey. He was taken away in an Ambulance and he wasn’t conscious or moving. On reaching the hospital he was pronounced death.
Union Sportif of Douala were guilty of wasting chances that afternoon and through one of such moments they have lost a fan.
Pa Wandji’s demise leaves a huge vacuum in the Nasara Gamakai family which is already battling for form since the start of the season.
