The Under-20 national selection of Cameroon will leave the country for Morocco in the wee hours of Monday, February 1st.
The boys of coach Christophe Ousmanou recorded a three-nil victory against local side Cosmos of Bafia at the CAF Excellence center in Mbankomo-Cameroon this morning.
It should be noted that this year will be the 16th edition of the competition. The AFCON will be the first edition in Africa U-20 Cup of Nations to have been expanded to 12 teams from eight. The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives.
Cameroon will be making its 11th appearance next year with the best appearance being champions in 1995.
Teams qualified includes Mauritania (debut), Tunisia (debut), Morocco (winners in 1997), Ghana (champions in 1993, 1999, 2009), Burkina Faso (4th place in 2003), Uganda (debut), Tanzania (debut), Namibia (debut), and Mozambique (debut).
Cameroon will face host Mauritania, Uganda and Mozambique in the group stage of the competition scheduled across Mauritania.
