Under 20 AFCON:Amajitas Defeats Flying Eagles To Clinch Third Place

Amajitas of South Africa defeated Flying Eagles of Nigeria 5-3 on penalties to Clinch Third Place at the ongoing CAF U20 AFCON in Niger Republic.

The game which ended in 0-0 draw after 90 minutes witnessed few chances. With yellow cards to Khulekani Kubheka of South Africa in the first half.

The second half saw the two managers made changes to see if the fate of the teams can change pertaining to score line.
For South Africa Luke Le Roux comes in for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Keenan Philips comes in for Njabulo Blom.

A notable chance for flying eagles was in the second half when Aliyi Bravo acrobatic effort was well
saved by the South Africa goalkeeper Khubeka.

After a goaless 90 minutes, spots kicks was imperative to get a winner.

Givemore Khupe converts the penalty and scores for South Africa to make it Nigeria 0-1 South Africa.

Ibrahim Alhassan misses Nigeria’s first penalty kick.
Luke Le Roux converts his penalty for South Africa to make it Nigeria 0-2 South Africa.

Jamil Muhammad converts his penalty for Nigeria to make it Nigeria 1-2 South Africa.
Simphiwe Ncamani converts his penalty for South Africa to make it Nigeria 1-3 South Africa.

Mike Zaruma also converts his penalty for Nigeria to make it Nigeria 2-3 South Africa.
Malebogo Modise didn’t disappoint as he also scored his penalty for South Africa to make it Nigeria 2-4 South Africa.

As the spot kicks gets to an interesting level, Maxwell Effiom converts his own penalty for Nigeria and makes it Nigeria 3-4 South Africa.

Finally, Siphesihle Mkhize converts the last penalty for South Africa to make the final penalty score line stands at Nigeria 3-5 South Africa.

South Africa finished third while Nigeria ended their campaign at the tournament with a fourth placed finish.

The final game will take place tomorrow between Group B representatives, Senegal and Mali. Both sides qualified from the same group likewise Nigeria and South Africa.

Senegal, Mali, South Africa and Nigeria have all qualified for 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.
