The head coach of the local Amavubi’s of Rwanda has showered praises on the Ugandan side that forced his side to a goalless draw during Monday’s CHAN 2020 CECAFA derby in Douala.
Speaking post-match, the trainer acknowledged the quality of their opponents but lamented about his side’s failure to take their chances in the game.
“We know Uganda is a very good team, they played well in the Pre-CHAN friendlies. We expected a very tough opponent today, we tried to match them, we played our game but we didn’t material the opportunities we had today,” Mashami Vincent intimated.
Talking chances, Jacques Tysinge and his forward colleagues had a handful of chances, attempting 15 shots, five of which were on target but failed to score with their best chance falling to Muhadjiri Hakizimana whose second half efforts met the crossbar.
However, the gaffer expressed satisfaction about picking a point from the fixture while hoping for more going forward.
Rwanda face leaders and defending champions Morocco in their next game on Thursday hoping for a win to keep their hopes of matching their quarter-final exploits in 2016 alive.
