Wasteful finishing in the early minutes of the first half made the Serengeti boys to pay on Wednesday in their second in the ongoing Under 17 AFCON championship.

The Uganda Cubs got the products of their hardwork this time around after suffering a narrow 1 nil defeat Angola in their opening game.

Goals in quick succession from Kawooya Andrew,Asaba Ivan and Najib Yiga in the 16th,28th and 77th minute was all Uganda needed to get their first 3 points of AFCON Tournament in Tanzania.

Uganda had a 2 nil lead when Referee Samir Guezzaz from Morocco sent the two teams to the changing Rooms for the first half break.

Upon resumption without change of personalities, Uganda looked even more daring being very creative thanks to their dominance in the Midfield.

Tanzania forward John Kevin showed flashes of how good he could be in future in the 49th minutes when he created an opening for himself in the Ugandan box but unfortunately he ran out of space.

John Edmund attempted from long range minutes after Kevin but Goalkeeper Patrick Mubiru was equal to it as he saved to keep Uganda’s lead.

Uganda failed to pounce on a defensive blunder in the 60th minutes as poor decision making at the back put Abdulwahid Iddi clear on goal but Alphonce Msanga and co recovered to prevent further damage for Tanzania.

Shabani Hassan was busy making saves after saves as the Uganda team looked ready to score everytime they came towards the Tanzanian goal. Amiri Njeru kept Serengeti boys hopes alive with well timed tackle in the 65th minutes to deny Ugandan forward Abdulwahid Iddi from silencing the fans at the National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam.

In the 69th minutes,Salumu Milingini found space in the box but his shot only found the steady Uganda keeper Patrick Mubiru.

In the 77th minutes Najib Yiga found himself unmarked in the box and made Tanzania pay with a cool finished as the host headed towards the exit door of their competition having shipped in 8 goals in 2 games.

At full time the boys of Coach Kwasi Fabin got all 3 points and host Tanzania looked closer to the exiting their own tournament than qualifying for the semi’s.
