The U-17 Lions of Cameroon have lost their first match in the UEFA Assist Tournament currently taking place in Turkey. The baby lions were beaten by a brilliant Paraguay side 3 goals to 1.
Paraguay dominated the first half of the match and went on the break with a one zero lead. Upon resumption of the second half, the Cameroon side improved on their performance but conceeded two more goals before Wamba Leonel pulled one back.
The defeat leaves the U-17 Lions of Cameroon at the bottom of Group B in the UEFA Assist International Tournament with no point, Paraguay is on top of the group with 3 points while Angola and Scotland are second and third with 1 point each.
Cameroon’s next outing is on Tuesday against Scotland.
The UEFA ASSIST International Tournament gives teams the opportunity to evaluate themselves in a competitive tournament and get ready for the 2019 FIFA Under 17 World Cup. Another value of this tournament is to bring youngsters from different geographical locations together and introduce them to new cultures.
