Sporting Chaleroi striker, Victor Osimhen scored a hatrick to help Dream Team VII of Nigeria overcome a 2-0 first leg deficit to be able to defeat Libya Under 23 side by 4-0.

The game which was dominated by Nigeria saw the West African side miss lots of goal scoring chances in the first half. Notable among the chances was Kelechi Nwakali’s freekick hitting the woodwork in the 18th minute.

The first breakthrough for Nigeria came in the 34th minute when Victor Osimhen pounces on a loose ball in the box to score. Meanwhile, Chukwueze with a Free kick had hits
the woodwork earlier on as Osimhen capitalise on the free kick to score Nigeria’s first goal of the game.

In the 45th minute, Osimhen’s effort from the edge of the box hits the upright.
At half time, the scoreline was Nigeria 1-0 Libya (1-2 on aggregate)

In the second half, Nigeria tried to increase their lead and cancels their first leg deficit. In the 66th minute, they were rewarded when Libya Goalkeeper Alweehi drops Duru’s easy cross to allow Victor Osimhen tap home for Nigeria’s second goal of the game.

In order to go into the lead on aggregate, Nigeria moved forward in search of a leading goal on aggregate.
In the 82nd minute, their mission was complete with a goal made in Chile 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup. Kelechi Nwakali robs his marker of possession and slices it through for Osimhen who claimed his hat trick as Nigeria overturn the deficit.

As if that was enough, in the 93rd minute David Okereke nets after a cheeky back heel from Osimhen to kill off the game and make the tie ends in a 4-2 triumph on aggregate for Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Dream Team VII has now qualified for the next stage of CAF U23AFCON qualifiers.
