Cameroon’s U-23 national football team of Cameroon must beat Tunisia in their final qualifier match to determine who among them qualifiers for the 2019 u-23 Nations Cup in Egypt this year.
The Olympic lions who are aiming for their participation in this edition have a hecurlian task to oust the North Africa nation.
Cameroon welcomes Tunisia at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé during the first leg on the 5th of June before a return leg match at the Stade Olympic de Rades,Tunisia four days later.
Rigobert Song ,head coach of the indomitable lions who took over from Richard Towa had promised to qualify Cameroon for the Egypt Under 23 event . 8 teams are due to participate at this year’s event including host Egypt.
The Lions of Cameroon sent parking Chad 3-0 in Yaounde and later held them to a 1-1 draw in Njamena,Chad.
The were the only Africa nation not to play during the second round qualifying round, following the suspension of their opponents Sierra Leone by the Confederation of African Football,CAF.
Both Cameroon and Tunisia who have had 2 Olympic performances are poised for a third spell. Tunisia made their maiden appearance in 2015.
The 3rd edition of the U-23 Nations Cup in Egypt also determines which three African teams will compete at the 2020 Summer Olympic in Japan.
The 2019 U-23 AFCON will run from the 8th-22nd of November 2019.
Egypt were announced host of the event in September,2017 after Zambia withdrew from hosting.
