Egypt’s Men U21 National team are champions of the 2021 edition of the Under 21 Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) competition holding in Cairo, Egypt.
The host clinched their fifth title after attaining a perfect record in the tournament.
A straight set win against North African rivals, Morocco on Wednesday, put the icing on the cake.
It was a rampant Egypt at the Cairo Stadium Hall dispatching Morocco 25-14 in the first set, 25-19 in the second set and a 25 to 21 scoreline to take the third set.
Egypt had defeated Congo Dr in their first match of the tournament. It was a commanding performance beating Congo 3-0 ( 25-9, 25-18 ,25-1).
In the second game against Cameroon, Egypt dropped their first set of the tournament, but won by 3-1. A 25-21 win in the first set, 25-19 win in the second set, were pegged back in the third set 17-25 and wrapped the game up the fourth set winning 25-17.
Egypt and Cameroon will represent Africa at the Italy/Bulgaria 2021 FIVB Men’s U21 World Championship.
The pandemic situation led to some teams failing to show at the tournament hence, it had to be played in a round rubbing way with Cameroon, Congo RDC, Morocco and host Egypt.
